Sue storm turns invisible, moves to one side, and puts a forcefield around the head of the wolf, so that no air can reach his nose. Also, it should prevent him from breathing. Or running.
She also draws her fantastic flare gun to call her comrades, before realizing that this will not work. Then she frowns (invisibly) and shoots the gyro-jet powered rocket bullet into the wolf's chest.
Sue is a girl, and therefore fights mean. No one can see her.
The Man-Beast snuffles, puzzled, before snarling and ripping the invisible force field open with orange force-field jaws.
Then it howls, shot in the chest with a rocket bullet!
A blast of flame, then another, then a third, explode within the Man-Beast's body! These are the three fireworks loads which form the blazing number "4" when they are in the air, as designed, and not in a rib cage. Reed didn't envision this eventuality ...
... or did he? Because it sure does do the job!
The Man-Beast collapses, mortally wounded. But instead of dying, he reverts to his other life, changing into a handsome tall man still wearing the Man-Beast's one-piece leotard with bare arms and legs.
The orange jewel sinks into his head, covered over by new, healthy skin.
And Sue has to suppress a gasp as she recognizes the man in whom the Man-Beast lurks ... it is John Jameson, a fellow astronaut and graduate of Huntsville Class of '61!
John was lost in a deep space probe attempting to orbit the planet Venus years ago! Could some strange destiny have drawn him here, to the far side of the Sun, and cursed him with the jewel which transforms him into the brutish Man-Beast when the moon shines upon the fields of the night?
Yes. It seems that it could, in fact, have done so.
INVISIBLE GIRL
ReplyDeleteSue turns visible, rushes to the fallen John Jameson, and throws her arms around him, and says, "Sorry for shooting you! Are you OKAY?"
