The Thing and Iron Man fistfight each other.
Namor bursts into the recreation hall, threatens everyone, and shrinks almost out of sight, hit by one of Ant-Man's shrinking disks. For a moment, he just stands there, blinking.
The Vision's eyes track and focus again as the life-jewel clicks into place. He sees the Scarlet Witch inches away.
She smiles at him, delighted. Rather like Garbo.
After a moment.
"The Collector escaped through a gate of teleportation."
She gestures/looks in the general direction.
"Ah," says the Vision. "Who is the Collector?"
No one enters, behind no invisible force field. And Storm can see what's happening from where she is, until the brawling Thing and Iron Man run into her. Or she could join the others.
A very high-pitched Namor says, "He stole the Serpent Crown! It is too dangerous to be in the hands of any but the Prince of Atlantis! I will smite all you strange giants until I recover the Crown, and return it to my safe keeping!"
The Scarlet Witch says, in delicately accented English: "I do not know."

"But he was not expecting the giant's attack at the same time. So he was crushed. Like bug. And zapped." She nods to Storm. "Like bug. And like bug, he flew away."
MACHINE MAN: "The Collector? He's one of the seven or eight Elders of the Universe! Really old guys, not as old as Galactus, but almost. And they each have a specialization. The Champion wrestles people, the Grandmaster plays games, the Gardener ... GARDENS, of course, and there are a couple of others. He's fought the old-school Avengers before, and I think the Fantastic Four, too."
ReplyDeleteSue Storm steps into the room, and, seeing no anger maddened Illuminati around her, drops her force field.

They are the last survivors of one of the intelligent races that evolved in one of the first galaxies to form after the “Big Bang”, the cataclysmic event in which the universe was created."
See? Being a Fantastic Four member is not all mooning after Reed and getting kidnapped by Dr. Doom. Sue picks up on what is going on.
She looks around. "Where's Namor?"

"Susan!" he says. "The Serpent Crown's power is almost unimaginable for one with the strength of will to wield it! You must get it back ... aye, for it cannot be destroyed!"

ReplyDeleteAnt-Man says, "Aren't the 'The Boys' still angry? Shouldn't we calm them down? 'The Boys'! What a ridiculous name! Why can't they have a cool name like ... hm...'The Illuminati'! I bet no one has ever thought of that!"
He sends his ants to scout about the place looking for clues, and finding anyone who got hurt.
ANT REPORT: Thing and Iron Man still fighting. Many other heroes unconscious. SHIELD troops injured, but no fatalities. Building has three holes punched in the roof.
DeleteAlso, a humanoid bird with a cigar in his bill an a crumpled blue hat on his head is kicking several SHIELD agents with some kind of waterfowl martial art. The bird is enraged with red energy and the SHIELD agents are losing. This is happening out of sight of all the heroes, but the ants ... are EVERYWHERE!

"Namor..." She says, "Are you still angry?"
She look around. "Does anyone here have follow teleporting Elders through cosmic dimension gates powers?
"If not, we have to wait for Reed to wake up. He is always finding ways to yank people into our reality from the Negative Zone and stuff, like Blastaar or Annihilus. It's like a hobby with him..."
Machine Man says,

Namor says,
"My anger burns like unto the venom of the dreaded killserpent eel! Do as I command! Rrrah!"
The Scarlet Witch quirks a smile and sends waves of calming hex bolts into Namor's mind.

His eyes crackle with maGenta lightning, but rage is as comfortable a fit in namor's mind as it is foreign to Machine Man ... so it doesn't help.
Delete"No witch's curse can douse the fire of the Avenging Son! Hrrah!"
And the tiny Namor bounds up, up, higher and higher yet, to punch the Scarlet Witch squarely on the index finger.
She steps to one side so he misses and whirls him about a time or two before giving him back to Sue.
Delete"You are out of your element, Prince of the Seas. Yet, you have a fiery temper for all of that. I shall see what I can do with the other Boys."
Wanda the Scarlet Witch glides off down the hall.
