Storm can fly a plane. She will fly back down from where she had tried to follow the Collector and fly whatever vehicle is needed. She will find if Iceman and Colossus can meet them, or can be picked up on the way.
They can. However, they have not actually left yet, because they're trying to capture Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, the Beast, etc. at the X-Mansion. Because they're all insane with Professor-X rage. So no X-Men reinforcements are coming. On the other hand, Iceman assures Storm they got this! No need for her to come rushing back. She can go into space.
Oh, and Kitty Pryde. She's not insane with rage.
Once they arrive at the Baxter Building, we all get in the spaceship. Storm puts Spiderman in front and tells him to use his danger sense as radar, so they can avoid unseen dangers.
The expedition is:
Storm
Sue Storm
Spider-Man
Scarlet Witch
Ant-Man
Machine Man
the Vision
Anyone left out? Anyone else going? Anyone NOT want to go into space?
Scarlet Witch will stay near Abel in case she needs to clear the rage from him again. Fortunately, he seems to be rather self-aware about when it is coming on.

ReplyDeleteAt the Baxter Building, Sue is in her element.
I would like to remind everyone here that the very first thing Sue Storm ever did, even before she had powers, was astronaut work.
She finds space suits for everyone and anyone who can fit into one of Reed's stretchy suits or Ben's extra large suits.
She gives them all a five minute lecture on space safety, on oxy-nitrogen mixes, the bends, cosmic radiation safety, how to attach a tether line, how to use a wrist and ankle rockets.
Sue will take the controls since flying a rocket is not the same as flying a plane.
She says, "I can turn the whole rocket invisible on our final approach, but only for a very short time, because it is so large. If the Collector's ship does not have a space dock adaptable to our airlock, I will bring the ship alongside, and Johnny can burn a hole through the... oh, wait. Vision can burn a hole through the hull, and I will plug the hole with a force field, after we board."
Sue says, "Machine Man, can you guide us to where the Collector has collected any sort of thought-screen or mental defense projectors? And then guide us to his sleeping quarters? We should wait until the Collector falls asleep and have Ant Man the super thief steal the crown off his head.
"If that does not work, we go to plan B. Um. Wait until Reed solves the... no, no, no. Have Spider-Man shout out something about clobbering time, and punch him in the face. And have someone else commit rampant acts of arson. That is the way my team has always handled things."
Sue Storm has reason to know ALL ABOUT cosmic radiation safety!
Delete"I could put him in a private nightmare," Wanda muses. "I would far prefer to restore his sanity, but that did not work."

She takes out her autographed photo of Namor while no one is looking....

ReplyDeleteAnt-Man has a Pym Space Suit (well, he has the ONLY Pym Space Suit) which will shrink with him. And a ton of ants. He can store the ants in belt canisters, in case he has to take them with him. Like Batman's utility belt, but all the tools are different species of ants.
ReplyDeleteSpider-Man has met Nova, and therefore knows about the Guardians of the Galaxy. He has a way to contact Nova, but it's a mail address, not a cell number. However, calling the Guardians of the Galaxy on the radio, once the rocket is in space, might work!
ReplyDeleteSpider-Man suddenly realizes that if Mary Jane calls Aunt May ... after Peter told Mary Jane he was going to be with Aunt May ... oboy.
